hungarian Grand Prix

Sun 29th Jul 2012

Budapest

Hungarian F1 Grand Prix, 2012.

The Formula One Grand Prix has taken place at the Hungaroring in Mogyoród near Budapest since 1985, when it was the first F1 race to be run behind the Iron Curtain.

The narrow twists and turns of the course, frequently dusty in hot weather make for exciting races. Pit strategy is often key to success, as overtaking is challenging, despite modifications made to the course in recent years.

In 2006,  the Hungarian Grand Prix was run in wet conditions for the very first time.

Nigel Mansell’s 17-year-record of winning from 12th was broken, when Jenson Button took victory from 14th place on the race grid.
In 2010 Red Bull’s Mark Webber took the chequered flag.
