Formula 1

The highest class of automobile racing sanctioned by the Federation Internationale de I’Automobile is the FIA Formula One World Championship also known as Formula 1 or F1. The “formula” or set of rules laid down by the FIA to which all the participants are obliged to adhere to, are applied to a series of races held at different circuits around the world, know as Grand Prix. The results from each race are combined to determine the drivers and constructers World Championships.
 
Formula One, since its inception in the mid 1940’s and with the first world championship race taking place at Silverstone in 1950, has been the epitome of speed, money and glamour for over half a century now. With television audiences which aggregate over 600 million viewers per race, the passion for this most expensive of sports is set to continue onwards and upwards for some time yet.
